State Announces $10 million to help buy Solar PV Systems
Gov. David Paterson says $10 million in federal stimulus funds are available to subsidize solar energy projects in New York.
The state Energy Research and Development Authority will award the money through competitive statewide solicitation. The money is designed to help build a solar industry in the state by promoting the installation of photovoltaic systems. http://bit.ly/MG6lF
A nice estimator by street address. Does not include the 50 percent deal.
Total subsidy from all sources now exceeds 72 percent.
This latest is on top of the announcement that The New York Power Authority (NYPA) says it can probably help fund 50 to 80 solar photovoltaic systems as large as 10 kilowatts for businesses and residences with an extra 50 percent subsidy. Authority spokeswoman Christine Pritchard says there's an estimated $2 million for the program and residential solar energy systems typically cost $25,000 to $50,000.

(Watertown Times coverage) NYPA is offering an incentive to its municipal and rural cooperative customers for the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The program is available to residential, commercial and municipal facilities and will cover solar projects as large as 10 kilowatts. The Power Authority will pay for approximately 50 percent of the installed cost. In addition, residential and commercial owners may be eligible to receive significant state and federal tax credits. In lowering the capital cost for consumers and businesses, NYPA’s Solar Incentive Program will encourage investment in solar projects, decrease dependence on foreign fossil fuels and advance efforts to grow the clean energy economy in New York State.
