Adirondack Youth Climate Summit
High school and college students from regional schools attended the Adirondack Climate Conference in November 2008 and participated in the working groups over the two day event. The students who participated in the conference took what they learned at the conference back to their schools and started projects aimed at tackling some of the climate challenges that face the Adirondack Park. Several students at Lake Placid High School, for example, have taken on projects aimed at increasing the energy efficiency of their school. One student encouraged the school to complete an energy audit, while two other students have looked into ways to increase the schools electrical and heating efficiency. Another student prompted the idea of the Youth Summit by encouraging the conference planning team to organize an event that catered specifically to the youth and student population. He has taken a leadership role in organizing this Summit.
